Tamarindo Sailing

Costa Rica shallow waters are home to hundreds of shallow bays and deserted beaches. Catamarans are the perfect vehicles to navigate these waters and access these secret coves. Always one of our guests’ favorite activities, a sunset sail is a great way to experience Costa Rica from the water. Most tours leave around midday and head north past the point in Playa Grande. After passing submerged reefs that protect Tamarindo Bay, the catamaran slowly glides up the coast. Dolphins, sea turtles, rays and the occasional humpback whale all may surface to take a look at you as they pass.

Drinks and food are included on board and these tours tend to be friendly social affairs. After an hour or two of sailing, your captain will drop anchor in a deserted bay. The catamarans carry kayaks, standup paddle boards, snorkeling equipment and flotation noodles. Your group will have an hour or two to play in the warm Costa Rican sea before the captain pulls up anchor and heads back to Tamarindo just in time for sunset.
